Something is rotten in the city of Encino, California

By Hans Wuerflein

Things are going down at Infinity Ward HQ.  While details are still sketchy, it appears that studio heads Jason West and Vince Zampella are no longer with the company.

A report filed by Activision suggested that someone was being let go from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 developer citing “insubordination,” which usually translates in the business world to “because screw you, that’s why.”

The developers have updated Facebook and other online profiles indicating their firing.

At this point though it appears that they are the only Infinity Ward employees to be let go.

Which is strange, as it sounds like Activision sent out a group of security guards to Infinity Ward’s offices last night.

Then there are reports coming out of Activision saying Infinity Ward is still essential to the Call of Duty franchise, but that they’re going forward with a plan to publish a Treyarch made Call of Duty this year (Call of Duty 3, and CoD World at War) as well as a Sledgehammer developed third person action adventure game next year.
