Two Nintendo Titles To Look For In 2010

by – “Tiger” Oliver

Outside of the highly-anticipated Super Mario Galaxy 2, Nintendo seems to be gearing up its major franchises for tentative 2010 dates.

These games are the currently untitled Metroid: Other M and The Legend of Zelda, both briefly mentioned at 2009’s E3 convention.

While there isn’t much to say about Zelda except “hold on! I haven’t even played Twilight Princess yet!!!“, Metroid: Other M is going to be as stellar as Metroid Prime was on the GameCube. The new interquel is supposedly set between Super Metroid and Metroid Fusion and will “take you deeper into Samus’s story”, according to Nintendo of America CEO Reggie Fils-Aime. Fils-Aime said that the gameplay should also be more of a throwback to the original series than of the Prime trilogy.

The biggest news about Other M: Team Ninja (the team behind the 3D series of Ninja Gaiden) is collaborating with Nintendo and D-Rockets to do a mini-revolution of sorts to the series. The main concern behind this is that it will play too much like the 3D Ninja Gaiden games. While it will still be mainly 3D with 2D elements, we’ll ultimately have to wait and see how this will play out.

Stay tuned for more news behind these two games and Super Mario Galaxy 2.
